Logic is a professional audio program, but it's mostly used in music production. Motion is affordable ($50), but Logic is a bit more expensive ($199). Motion and Logic Pro are not included so you have to spend more money to get them. The catch with Final Cut is that you don't get everything with it. They will cost a little bit, but they save you a lot of time.

If you're not use to editing, then get ready to use plugins. For any features it may be lacking, there are plugins. It might not have all the features of other NLEs but there's nothing wrong with it. Not very many, but there are some production houses that prefer the workflow. Also, if you don't have much experience, it's got a fairly steep learning curve.

It's been years since I looked at the differences - and they may have changed and the website doesn't say - but the free version restricts you to a maximum resolution of 1080p while the paid version doesn't have a resolution restriction and gives you some more features not included in the free version. The catch with Resolve is that there are 2 versions: a free version and $295 version. I haven't really kept up with it's usage, so it may be the go-to VFX software now. 11.) It does have a VFX program built in (Fusion) and from what I've heard is on par with any of the "high-end" and "professional" VFX programs used in Hollywood. The editing feature is still fairly new, but it gets better with every new edition. It is the industry standard for Color Grading and Color Correction.

What you need to really be asking yourself is, "What do I intend to do with it?"Īre you going to be editing feature films? Do you want to learn how to be a professional colorist? Then I would probably go with Resolve.
